UTF Converter Instructions |

Converts between different UTF formats (plus text and R/LACE compression), and performs NamePrep.
InputType in the large input box.
The Input format lets you pick:
The Samples list lets you add sample text for testing, as in the picture on the left. (See Caveats)
For more samples, see Unicod Transcriptions.
Clicking on the Arrow or any of the menu items will do a conversion.
Errors are shown under each box.
The Output format lets you pick text, UTFs, or ACEs
You can also choose to do NamePrep (or not)
The Base menu lets you pick a radix (only applicable if numeric results are displayed)
The Pattern lets you add text before and after numeric results, signified by '@'. For example,
&#x@; will produce text of the form
"ሴ
\u@ will produce text of the form
"\u1234"
If you have a pattern of the form x@y@z,
the result for the three integers 1234, 2345, and 3456 will be
x1234y2345y3456z. That is, y is an infix, and x and z are prefix and
suffix.
This box shows a round-trip mapping back from the Output box.
Currently this doesn't work if Radix ≠ 16 or Pattern ≠ "@ "
Uses Javascript, so that has to be enabled.
If you are using Text, the browser has to be Unicode-enabled, and you have to have Unicode fonts if you want to see the results. See Display Problems.
